Don't Cry For Me, Argentina - Madonna

This is the song which reminds of my few moments in Mindanao (South of Philippines).
When I was a little kid, my relatives, particularly my uncles and my grandfather (God rest his soul) used to tell me that I was an adopted child.

They tease me especially when they hear this song on the radio and probably I was just around them, making them tired of me. I remember back then, I really used to think I was an adopted child. It pains me to realize that and they say I am the daughter of my aunt whose name is Tina.

So when out of the blue I sing the chorus of this song (I remember I sing this song probably at the age of 3.5 to 4. Call me crazy but those are the memories in my head which are corroborated by some stories proving that sometime in the past, I recall those events at a very young age) teasing were guaranteed to come my way.

I disliked this song because of that memory from my past... which now I realized there was really nothing wrong about the song. I came to like the song more when Madonna sang this in the movie Evita. It was an amazing movie and made me appreciate a musical movie.

It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
that I still need your love after all that I've done
You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom
Running around, trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to
Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me
Don't cry for me Argentina
Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true
