MULI - Gary Valenciano

Another song translation for all of you guys!

I love Gary V and I am sharing this wonderful love song with you.

Enjoy!

Lyrics of the song
MULI (AGAIN)
by Gary V & Regine Velasquez

Muling hinahanap  (Searching again)
Ang dating paglingap na mula sa'yo (My previous longing for you)
Muling umaasa (Hoping again)
Sa dating nadaramang laan sa'yo (For my previous feelings saved for you)
Mula ng magwakas, tapusin ang lahat (Since it ended, all is finished)
Ay naritong nagmamahal pa rin (I am still here loving you)
Pa'no kaya maibabalik (How to bring back)
Ang damdamin mong dati (Your feelings before)

[Regine]
'Di ba't ikaw pa (Wasn't it you?)
Unang may nais na tapusin na (Who first wanted to end it)
Habang panahon (All this time)
Pinilit limutin ka hanggang ngayon (I tried to forget you until now)
Mula ng magwakas, tapusin ng lahat (Ever since it ended, everything is done/finished)
Hindi maikakailang ikaw pa rin  (It cannot be denied that it's still you)
Papa'no kaya maibabalik Ang hangaring dati (How to bring back my intentions before?)

[Both]
Refrain:
Ba't di nagkatagpo (Why didn't we meet?)
Bakit tuloy nagkalayo (Why did we eventually part?)
Bakit mayro'n pang nadarama (Why do I still have feelings)
Gayong hindi na tayong dalawa (Since it's no longer the two of us)
Bakit magwawakas (Why would it end)
Pag-ibig na wagas (A love that is eternal)
Ma'ri bang mangyari pang ibigin pang...(Can it be that you will love me...)
Muli (Again)

[Regine]
Kung muling iibigin (If I will love you again)
H'wag sanang lisanin nang tulad noon (I hope you will not leave me like before)
Pagluha'y di na kaya (I can no longer bear crying)
H'wag na sanang isipin nang tulad gayon (Don't think of anything like that anymore)

[Gary]
Hanggang sa nagwakas, (Until it ended)
Natapos ang lahat (Everything was done)
Ay naritong nagmamahal pa rin (And I am still here loving you)
Paano pa ba maibabalik (How can I bring back)
Ang hangaring dati (my intentions before)
(Ma'ri pa kayang muli....) (Can it still happen again?)

[Both]
Ma'ri bang mangyari pang ibigin pang...(Can it be that you will love me...)Muli (Again)

Nandito lang ako (I am just here)
(bago lumayo sa pilling mo) - before i depart from you
Higit kang kailangan kailan man (I need you more forevermore)
(hanggang kailan kaya naman) - Until when?
Mahal kita (I love you)
(tila)- as if
hanap ka (Searching for you)
(sana) - I hope
(tunay kaya ito) - is this real?
Minsan pang bigyan ng daan (Give way/chance once more)
Pag-ibig na sa'yo nakalaan (My love that's saved for you)

[Both]

Heatwave - Martha and the Vandellas

I cannot watch the American Idol right now. I just read from Yahoo News about this entry.  I watched the latest episode via youtube.

This song showed the inner side of This Megia. She is a finalist in the American Idol Season 10 which everyone of us are excited to watch, especially here in the Philippines because she has Filipino blood running in here veins.

She is the second Fil-Am contestant, together with Jasmine Trias, who made it the that prestigious talent search in the United States.  We feel proud whenever a Filipino brings honor to the country. We are a third world country that is why when one of us becomes well-known in the world arena, we can't help but be proud.  I know we have potentials to become great but most of us, somewhere along the way, something goes wrong.

I have heard of this song before and of course, that was long ago, like when I was still in grade school.  It's a fast song so I don't expect my mom to be singing this song, neither did she kept a copy of this song in her collections.

In celebration of the new emotions, new gig and new beat by Thia in her bid as the next American Idol, I am sharing the lyrics with you.  To Thia, we are with you! Thank you for making us proud!

Read on!

Heat Wave

Whenever I'm with him, somethin' inside
Starts to burnin', and I'm filled with desire.
Could it be a devil in me or is this the way love's supposed to be?
It's like a heat wave,
Burnin' in my heart,
I can't keep from cryin',
It's tearin' me apart.
Whenever he calls my name, sounds slow, sweet and plain,
Right here, right there, I feel the burnin' flame.
Has high blood pressure got a hold on me?
Or is this the way love's supposed to be?
It's like a heat wave,
Burnin' in my heart,
I can't keep from cryin',
It's tearin' me apart.
(INSTRUMENTAL)
Sometimes I stare into space, tears all over my face,
I can't explain it, don't understand it,
I ain't never felt like this before.
Now that funny feeling has me amazed,
Don't know what to do my heads in a haze
It's like a heat wave. Yea yea yea yea, oh oh oh

Nagmamahal ng Tunay - Piolo Pascual

I will be writing about Piolo Pascual. My closest friends wouldn't believe I will be blogging about Piolo Pascual. I don't subscribe to soap opera on TVs that's why. But don't get me wrong... I just seldom glue my eyes on TV sets, that's another reason why. But I like Piolo Pascual. Who wouldn't, by the way?

He is this local heartthrob and he is really good looking in person. Me and my friends were fortunate to have a glimpse of him within the grounds of ABS-CBN a few years ago. We were only having coffee then we saw them coming out of the giant TV network's studio gate. He is friendly too.

Anyway, my classmate, who is going to get married this year, was playing this music in her car. She said this is a Piolo Pascual song and although there was nothing really special about his voice, except that he could really sing and there's nothing bad I can say about it, the lyrics of the song struck me the most and this is the reason why I took the liberty of translating it the way I understood it so please bear with me. Here it goes:

==============================
Nagmamahal ng Tunay (Loving you truly)
Simula noong makasama ka (Since we were together/Since I had your company)
Nagbago na'ng lahat (Everything has changed)
Sa buhay kong kay gulo (In my life which is in chaos)
Itinama mong lahat (You corrected/straighten everything)
Mga mali sa buhay ko (The wrong things in my life)
Salamat at ika'y nakilala ko (Thanks that I have known you)

Chorus
Pagkat kailangan ko (Because I need)
Ang 'sang katulad mo (Someone like you)
Na nagmamahal sa akin ng tunay (Who will truly love me)
Pintig ng puso ko (The beat of my heart)
Ay dahil lang sa 'yo (Is because of you)
Kung sa 'yo'y mawawalay (If I'll be taken away from you/If we will separate)
Kulang ang aking buhay (My life will be incomplete)

Nang inibig mo (When you loved me)
Nagbago ang aking mundo (My world changed)
'Yan ang hiwaga ng (That is the mystery)
Pagmamahal mong taglay (That your love brought to me)
Ang tangi kung dasal (My only prayer)
Pag-ibig ay magtatagal (Love will last)
Iingatan natin sa habang buhay (We will cherish/take care of it all our lives)

=============================

It is indeed a love song an as my classmate commented, "this is beautiful" so I couldn't help but agree. I was just thinking about the greatest love that this world has ever known... or maybe the greatest love that this world has ever taught me. The love of God to his people by sending His only son to redeem his people.

All I can think of was God and his love for his people. The story of his love life. I said to myself, this song depicts God-like kind of love and let me reiterate that a love which does not expect something in return is laudible. I have been longing to love like that but I guess I'm still mies away from that. Oooops, I am not trying to be God or at least to be a saint all right. I just thought I could do the same. The question of how and when can I do that remains a question up until now... you may have the answer, please share it with me.

"I can love you only up until there, but I will love you up to i-don't-know-when"

Say that again? Never mind, just go back to the song and read the lyrics. Enjoy!

Lahing Pinoy - Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao knocks down Miguel Cotto
It was a great fight, I heard. Perhaps I was one of the few Filipinos who were not able to watch the fight of Pacman today (November 15, Philippine time). I got so exhausted from the past week, not to mention my almost sleepless state last night juggling between domestic chores and cracking brain cells on what the heck is wrong with our computers. It was just so much to bear for me, knowing full well that hours spent fixing the laptop and desktop at the same time led me to nowhere.

Alright, before I continue, let me first post here the lyrics of the song because as I was reading it, indeed, the song was just a repetition of "Lahing Pinoy" meaning Pinoy (slang for Pilipino, referring to the Filipino people) and Lahi meaning "race"

======================================
The translation of the song Lahing Pinoy by Manny Pacquiao:

Lagi kung itataas (I will always raise)
Bandila ng Pilipinas (the flag of the Philippines)
Saan mang sulok ng mundo (In any corner of the world)
Iwawagayway ko ito (I will wave it)

Kahit saan kahit kailan (Anywhere, anytime)
Basta't kung para sa bayan (As long as it's for the country)
Buhay ko ay ilalaan (I will spend/dedicate my life)
Sa lupa kong sinilangan (In the land where I was born)

Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Sumigaw ang pinoy... HOY! (Shout Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahat ng pinoy... HOY! (All the Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahi ng Pinoy sa mundo (The race of Pinoys in the world)
Pilipino

Lagi kung isisigaw (I will always shout)
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas (Long live the Philippines)
Ang bayan na pinagmulan (The country source)
Kaya ako ay malakas (that's why I am strong)

Dugong bayani ay taglay (Heroes' blood is in me)
Ang syang nalalalaytay (It is what's flowing)
Sa nag aalab kong kamay (Through my blazing hands)
Pag sumuntok todo bigay (It punches with all might!)

Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Sumigaw ang pinoy... HOY! (Shout Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahat ng pinoy... HOY! (All the Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahi ng Pinoy sa mundo (The race of Pinoys in the world)
Pilipino

Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko (is my race)
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Sumigaw ang pinoy... HOY! (Shout Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahat ng pinoy... HOY! (All the Pinoys... HOY!)
Ang lahi ng Pinoy sa mundo (The race of Pinoys in the world)
Pilipino

Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipino
Ang lahi ko
Pilipino, Pilipino, Pilipinooooo AKO.

(Pilipino, I am Pilipino)

======================================
I was able to watch the replay of the fight. I was actually expecting that this song will again be used upon the introduction of Pacman, like they did when he fought Hatton. It was that old "Rocky" them (or so I think) which was playing while Pacman was being introduced. Anyway, I stillw as not able to watch the fight (since I already know the result) because I had a more important appointment for the day. I slept while the rest of the kids at home, including my sister, were all watching the fight. Honestly, the schedule of the fight slipped my brain or was I just too confident that somehow Manny would win. Besides, it has always been my notion that the bulk of the pressure lies in Cotto who was defending his belt. The pressure was lesser on Manny so there I was confidently, calmly and soundly asleep. The slumber was very helpful, it made my headache, sinusitis and tired body go away.

When I woke up, I was already expecting a victory.

Manny Pacquiao is an epitome of a true Pilipino. His life resembles a lot of us here in the country who climbed to the top out of hardwork and perseverance. He was born poor, we all know that. A lot of succssful people around us came from nowhere and rose from being nobody. It was really more of hardwork and for Pacman, the biggest factor was God and his family who was very supportive.

I have all praises for Manny as a Pilipno, as a successful boxer. Who wouldn't? HOwever, somehow I pity him because he is being used by other people, the Politicians in our midst. I can sense in Manny that he wants to help a lot of FIlipino people that is why he took a chance at Philipine politics the last time. For me, it was an unwise move. Filipinos support and follow the boxing career of Manny, but politics would be a different ball game for him. I am not confident that people would support him in the political arena the way we support him inside the boxing ring.

For me, as a fighter, he is loved by the Filipinos. It would be different if he nters the Political world again. I, for one, do not like the idea of an icon like pacman, that his desire to help the country would be coursed through his political career. I am actually crossing my fingers that he will not again enter politics. I wan to see him, in the future, as the only person who raised the statur of the Filipinos in the middle of political chaos, corruption and moral degradation in the government. I just want to see him as the person who lifts the soul of the Filipinos in believing the the powerful provision of the Almighty. I want to see him as th source of inspiration to those young fighters, athletes and those who are becoming hopeless. He is by far the most desired Filipino of this time, desired by all poor Filipinos around the word, by politicians and by the religious people. He is indeed a reflection of what true Filipinos are.

To Manny, you are our pride, you are our Champion and Congratulations for all your triumph. I know God is with you. I know you are truly blessed and guided by the Holy Spirit. So may the peace of the Lord be always in your heart as the Filipino blood continues to flow on your veins.

Mabuhay kapatid!
(long live my brother!)

Maging Sino Ka Man - Rey Valera - Sharon Cuneta

There was a movie about this song. It was a local film starred by Robin Padilla. Blogging about a Rey Valera song is quite overdue and incidentally, this song came to mind when I just want to blog about my sister.

My sister is or was an avid fan of Robin Padilla. He is a local actor who had the "bad boy" image in the Philippine cinema. Her fondness of this actor died down when the latter got involved in a criminal case from which he was committed to prison.

The other night I attended a prayer meeting, my sister went out with her friends. Before we were to go home, I stayed with them for a few minutes and they had a chat from which I think I overheard her saying "that's why I love my sister", in our dialect and she was referring to me. It caused me to smile although I was unsure of her exact words and whether she really meant it or not. I go for the positive side.

We've been through a lot together and she's been through a lot family-related problems. One would go really crazy if they are in her situation. I couldn't handle it myself if I was in her shoes that is why I admire her a lot. She manages to go through everything, add to that having a sister like me. I am the most uncontrolled sister in the universe but she accepts me, loves me even. And I love her back.

She is the kind of person you will love to love because as I have always told you, she can cope with different types of people. She can sustain relationships throughout the years and have loyal friends behind her. For me, she is simply the most amazing person I have ever seen and I believe she has been blessed fully for all that she has done to our family and to her friends. She is the kind of person one will surely love, whoever they are.

=========================================
Lyrics Translation of the song
MAGING SINO KA MAN (Whoever You are)

Ang pag-ibig ay sadyang ganyan (Love is like that)
Tiwala sa isa't isa'y kailangan (Trust in one another is needed)
Dati mong pag-ibig wala akong pakialam (Your previous love, I don't care)
Basta't mahal kita kailan pa man (I just love you forevermore)
'Wag kang mag-isip ng ano pa man (Don't think of anything else)
Mga paliwanag mo'y di na kailangan (I don't need your explanation)
At kahit ano pa ang iyong nakaraan (And whatever your past is)
Mamahalin kita maging sino ka man (I will love you forvermore)

Mahal kita pagka't mahal kita (I love you because I love you)
Iniisip nila ay hindi mahalaga (What they think is not important)
Mahal kita maging sino ka man (I love you whoever you are)

Mali man ang ikaw ay ibigin ko (It may be wrong to love you)
Ako'y isang bulag na umiibig sa 'yo (I may be loving you blindly)
At kahit ano pa ang iyong nakaraan (And whatever your past is)
Mamahalin kita maging sino ka man (I will love you forvermore)

Mahal kita pagka't mahal kita (I love you because I love you)
Iniisip nila ay hindi mahalaga (What they think is not important)
Mahal kita maging sino ka man (I love you whoever you are)

Sharon Cuneta - Maging Sino Ka Man - Sharon Cuneta

More Than Words - Extreme

I just want to say I was "star struck" (for me this means personally awed by the artist/inger or he/she is very irresistible) although I no longer recall the names of those boys (Take note: Boys) who sang this song in one of those students' gathering. I think the event was called "Student's Editorial Conference" or something.

That was a long time ago, in my high school days that's why I referred them as boys. I was still a young girl back then. I was a Sports columnist in our High School paper so I was a delegate to that conference together with the other writers from other schools in our province. This was the song that the two "stars-of-their-own-right" student delegates presented during the intermission number. I could vividly recall that they were good-looking, both of them but all other details have already vanished.

Anyway, this blog is about me so I'd rather get in order. I guess this song reminds me of my one-time stint as a writer, at least a high school paper. I dream of writing my own book you know. But so far, my mom is my only fan. I remembered her all-praises for me when I showed her my Sports Article for our school paper. She said "You write like a real sports writer!" Mom never lies, you agree?

Maybe, someday I will have my very own book, other than this blog and my journal of course.

Lyrics of the song More than Words

Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
Its not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me
Cos Id already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldnt make things new
Just by saying I love you

More than words

Now Ive tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close dont ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me
Cos Id already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldnt make things new
Just by saying I love you

Because of you - Keith Martin

I was on my way home. I remembered when I was still in Manila, I loved this song. My friend and I even watched Keith Martin (side by side with Arnie Hidalgo, a local singer, sister of the equally talented singer Jeffrey Hidalgo) when he was the guest artist at Ratsky's (it's a bar in Manila apparently owned by the actor/singer Randy Santiago). The song was just so full of love... and so much so that I felt so hard with that song, there was a time I brushed it aside... Like I switch to the other radio station when this song is played. Imagine that!

When one is in love, at least I'm talking for myself, there are songs you play over and over and over again. I never get tired. I still play them until now. The same is not true with this song. I lived not hearing this song for more than 2 years. I heard it again the other night and so I remembered I used to love this song. Maybe I just got pissed off with the singer himself or I wasn't really impressed when I watched him that night. Either of the two.

But the song is really nice because someone changed my life... so that is because of you. Thank you.

======================
If ever you wondered if you touched my soul, yes you do.
Since I met you I'm not the same. You bring life to everything I
do. Just the way you say hello. With one touch I can't let go.
Never thought I'd fall in love with you.

Because of you. My life has changed. Thank you for the love
and the joy you bring. Because of you I feel no shame. I'll tell
the world it's because of you.

Sometimes I get lonely and all I gotta do is think of you. You
captured something inside of me. You make all of my dreams
come true. It's not enough that you love me for me. You reached
inside and touched me internally. I love you best explains how
I feel for you.

Because of you. My life has changed. Thank you for the love
and the joy you bring. Because of you I feel no shame. I'll tell
the world it's because of you.

The magic in your eyes, true love I can't deny. When you hold
me I just lose control. I want you to know that I'm never letting
go. You mean so much to me, I want the world to see it's
because of you.

Because of you. My life has changed. Thank you for the love
and the joy you bring. Because of you I feel no shame. I'll tell
the world it's because of you. My life has changed. Thank you for the love and
joy you bring. Because of you I feel no shame.
I'll tell the world it's because of you

Because Of You - Keith Martin

She - Elvis Costelo

I thought of Julia Roberts and her role as Erin Brokovich. She was the woman who helped sick people with their legal battle against PG&E company. Apparently, that movie was based on factual accounts.

I remember her performance in the movie Notting Hill as well, and this song was included in the soundtrack (including Ronan Keating's Nothing At All). The actress is pretty, the movie was good, including the sound track. And a movie will likely to be more meaningful when you watched it with a person close to the heart. How sweet!

She may be the face I can't forget
a trace of pleasure I regret
may be my treasure or the price I have to pay
she may be the song that Solomon sings
may be the chill that autumn brings
my be a hounded tearful things
within the measure of the day.

She may be the beauty or the beast
may be the famine or the feast
may turn each day into heave or a hell
she may be the mirror of my dream
a smile reflected in a stream
she may not be what she may seem
inside as shell

she who always seems so happy 'n proud
who's eyes can be so private and so proud
no one's allowed to see them when they cry
she may be the love that can and hope to last
may come to me from shadows of the past
that I remember till day I die

She may be the reason I survive
the why and where for I'm alive
the one I'll care for through the rough and rainy years
me I'll take her laughter and her tears
and make them all my souvenirs
for where she goes I got to be
the meaning of my life is

she, she, she

She - Elvis Costello

Kanlungan - Noel Cabangon

This was a background music of McDonald's old TV commercial. It was sung by a Pilipino artist I admire, together with the rest of the artists who use their music in declaring love for the nation. I find Noel Cabangon as a nationalist artist. He was the composer of the song Tatsulok, popularized by another Pilipino artist Bamboo.

I tried to translate this song in English, in the nearest possible translation I can think of. It was a challenge to translate the word "panahon" because in tagalog (or Filipino dialect) the word either means "time" or "weather". I found the former to be most fitting translation for the song.

I was still living in Quezon city when I first saw this artist. I came to appraciate him more when our parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus, was able to invite Noel during a show or concert of all the church choirs. Two of my closests friends worked with the parish and that is where we go to during Sundays in Kamuning. My friend and I watched the concert, staged inside the church. The presentation was great!

Noel Cabangon sang this song live accompanied by his own guitar. It was really marvelous. There I learned that prior to being a popular singer, he used to be a parishoner of that church and he spent most of his childhood days in Kamuning area. Perhaps, he was even referring to Kamuning, as his "cradle" when he sang this song.
I am not really sure but one thing is guaranteed: he is a good artist and it's too hard not to admire him.

LYRICS OF KANLUNGAN
Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon (Time is chance)
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon? (Can we bring back yesterday?)

Natatandaan mo pa ba (Do you still remember?)
Nang tayong dal'wa ang unang nagkita? (When we last saw each other)
Panahon ng kamusmusan (Age of childhood and innocence)
Sa piling ng mga bulaklak at halaman (In the company of flowers and plants)
Doon tayong nagsimulang mangarap at tumula (There we started to dream and create poems)

Natatandaan mo pa ba (Do you still remember?)
Inukit kong puso sa punong mangga (The heart that I etched in mango tree)
At ang inalay kong gumamela (And the flower I gave)
Magkahawak-kamay sa dalampasigan (Holding hands at the sea shore)
Malayang tulad ng mga ibon (free as a bird)
Ang gunita ng ating kahapon (the memories of yesterday)

Ang mga puno't halaman ay kabiyak ng ating gunita (The trees and plants are the spouse of our memories)
Sa paglipas ng panahon (In the passing of time)
Bakit kailangan ding lumisan? (Why do we also have to leave?)

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon (Time is like chance)
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon? (Can we bring back yesterday?)

Ngayon ikaw ay nagbalik (Now you've returned)
At tulad ko rin ang iyong pananabik (And my eagerness is like yours)
Makita ang dating kanlungan (To see the old cradle/place)
Tahanan ng ating tula at pangarap (The home of our poems and aspirations)
Ngayon ay naglaho na (Now it disappeared)
Saan hahanapin pa? (Where shall we find it?)

Lumilipas ang panahon
Kabiyak ng ating gunita
Ang mga puno't halaman
Bakit kailangang lumisan?

Pana-panahon ang pagkakataon
Maibabalik ba ang kahapon?

Take Me Out of the Dark - Gary V.

It was the 90s when my brother and I watched the concert of Gary V. The Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD) Gym was the biggest stage that time. We came in early so we were able to see him rehearse. We were almost at the stage with Gary while he was preparing for the big night. It was almost very dark then the crowd slowly gathered inside.

I remember this scene just yesterday. I went back to that school which is where my niece and nephew are currently enrolled. I always associate that place with this singer/actor because it was the very first time I watched a concert, practically by myself and with my younger brother of course. It was really great!

For the information of all, I frequent that place nowadays because I joined a choir and we sing at the church near that school every first and third Sunday of the month.

Well, let us listen to one of Gary V's most heart-warming prayer/song. Here goes the lyrics:

Just what is it in me?
Sometimes I just don't know
What keeps me in Your love,
Why you never let me go

And though you're in me now,
I fall and hurt you still
My Lord, please show me how
To know just how you feel

You have forgiven me
Too many times it seems
I feel I'm not what you might call
A worthy Christian after all

And though I love You so
Temptation finds its way to me

Teach me to trust in You
With all my heart
To lean not on my own understanding
I just forget
You won't give me what I can't bear

Take me out of the dark, my Lord
I don't wanna be there

You've never left my side
You gave Your hand to me to hold
Oh Jesus, I'm no longer in the cold

And yet, I leave You there
When I feel satisfied
I'd like to thank You every day
Not only when I feel that way

I've never known a Man
Who'd give His life for sinners like me
And yet, because He loves us so
He's promised us eternity
And we can have that promise
And be His if we have faith
And just believe

Teach us to trust in you
With all my heart
To lean not on my own understanding
We just forget
You won't give us what we can't bear

Take us out of the dark, My Lord
'Cause we don't want to be alone
Take me out of the dark, My Lord
We don't wanna be there, My Lord

Trust in You with all my heart
Lean not on my own understanding
I just forget
You won't give me what I can't bear

Take me out of the dark, My Lord
Cause we don't want to be alone
Take me out of the dark, My Lord
I don't want to be there

Trying to get the Feeling Again - David Pomeranz

This is a Barry Manilow orginal song, I guess. I heard this from one of his albums but David Pomeranz sang this when he had a concert here in our city (Dagupan City) maybe in 2000 or 2001. It was my birthday when we watched his concert.

This song particularly caught my attention because it is the main reason why I claim to myself that love is like a flower which needs nourishment everyday. I thought back then that as long as you say "I Love You" to the one you love, everyday, nothing would go wrong. But something still has to go wrong because uttering those words, even with strong conviction and sincerity is not a guarantee for a relationship to last or for the two of you to last forever.

The song talks about a long distance relationship or at least the couple got separated for relatively a long time. One of the factors that could halt a relationship is the distance. It is like a plant taken away from sunlight for a few days. It will wither.

Too sad relationships has to last because of distance. Now what happens when one has to work abroad for the benefit of the family? It is just sad and sickening!

I have been there and I don't want to go back to that point again. I hope it won't happen again... I hope it stops! The good thing though is one's desire to try and get that feeling again... albeit too late I guess!

Here it is:
Doctor, my woman is comin' back home late today
Could you maybe give me somethin' ?
'cause the feeling is gone and I must get it back right away
Before she sees that

I've been up, down, tryin' to get the feeling again
All around, tryin' to get the feeling again
The one that made me shiver
Made my knees start to quiver
Every time she walked in

And I've looked high (high), low (low)
Everywhere I possibly can (high)
But there's no (no) tryin' to get the feelin' again
It seemed to disappear as fast as it came

Where did it run to? I thought I'd done all that I could
Just to keep the love light burnin'
But whatever I've done, guess I just haven't done it too good
'cause all that's left is THE YEARNIN'

I've been up, down, tryin' to get the feelin' again
All around, tryin' to get the feelin' again
The one that made me shiver, made my knees start to quiver
Every time she walked in

And I've looked high (high) and low (low)
And everywhere I possibly can (high)
But there's no (no) tryin' to get the feelin' again
It seemed to disappear as fast as it came

And I've been lookin', I've been lookin', I've been lookin'

I've been up (up), I've been down (down), and tryin' to get the feelin'
I've been up (up), I've been down (down), I've been tryin' to get
I've tried and I've tried and I've tried to get (up) the feelin' (down)
I've been trying to get the feelin' again
I wanna get that feelin'
I want to get that feelin'
I've got to get that feelin'
I've gotta get that feelin' again (up)
And again (down) and again (tryin' to get that feelin')
Tryin' to get (up) the feelin' (down)
I've been tryin' to get the feelin' again

Better Days - Diane Reeve

better days- diane reeves.mp3 -

Here goes my story:

As I recall... this song was very popular when I was still in high school or in my junior years. My brother loved this song so much maybe because of the lyrics but I loved it because Diane Reeve showed off her very powerful voice.

So my friends went to a bar in Quezon City (Virgin Cafe, Timog Ave, QC, sometime in 2005). We occupied two tables not knowing, a singer, a local talent I also admired because of her powerful voice, was seated to a table in front of us. She was Ella May Saison, the talent behind "Till my heartache ends".

Picture this: an artist you love for her song and a song you love to hear all in one! This is one of my most enterntaining days!

I always come across local talents but I do not recognize them until someone tells me they are popular people and I will just say "Ahhh!, alright!" But when it was Ella May Saison, my goodnesss, there was no second thoughts! The moment I realized she was seated beside us, I had nothing but praises for her song and admiration for her powerful voice. (I will have another entry for her song later)

It was Ella May, singing another favorite song of mine at a simple bar! (I meant simple because they did not actually advertise that there would be a professional singer that night) It was like a free meal for me. So when "Better Days" is played, I remember my brother, I remember Ella May, I remember that entertaining moment of my life.

Hard Habit to Break - Chicago

This is another song whose lyrics I have kinda memorized, adn I'm proud I could still memorize some things. It is a story about a person you keep thinking about, a person stuck in your head for a very long time.

Lyrics Hard Habit To Break lyrics

I like this song most especially when it was revived by Jed Madela duet with Gary Valenciano (two famous artist from Manila). I just loved their singing! I've watched them perform live on different occasions and the experience was incomparable. Those were the rare moments I get to treat myself outside my home, for pleasure, as an outlet and a good break!

I've watched Gary Valenciano's concert in Dagupan, with my brother when we were still little children then I've seen him again in Bauio City when they performed at Burnham Park. I've seen Jed Madela once, in Katips Bar somewhere along Katipunan Ave, Quezon City. He sang really, really good and since then I have had head-over-heels admiration towards him. I always see them on TV, in a variety show, singing/performing. Gary V (for short) is a good dancer too, you know.

If you are wondering why this song popped up... I'm just out of my head lately. My partner called it "off" for I don't know how long. I know I sang this song once but it wasn't easy. Singing this song is not as easy as the good artists sing it. I like those singers, and I like this song so much that I can't break the habit of singing it. I'm sorry I can't write long right now. I still need to go through my notes in preparation for my exam this noon. Thanks for dropping by.

Enjoy the music
