Super Sonic - JJ Fad

SUPER SONIC - JJ Fad

I used to know the lyrics of this song. I still can recall a few of them:
S is for Super and the U is for Unique
The P is for perfection and you know that we are freaks
The E is for exotic and the R is for Raps...

Me and my sister, we like its beat and the rap. We used to sing this together, it's like we are competing with each other
who is better at rap. She just easily gives up on me thinking I'd win. She is always like that. In order to avoid argument or
confrontation, she would just easily give in. I am not against such attitude. In fact, I want to emulate her "submissiveness"
at a right time. I also don;t want long, nonsense, crying-over-spilled-milk kinda argument because what has been done is done.

No use arguing about it. The right course of action is to find a solution and when we know the solution, work on it. I still want to imitate my sister's outlok at things and one thing I admire in her is she has patience towards other people.
I don't think I am as patient as she is. I mean, she could wait like forever and not say a word. She just keeps things to herself first then
produce her wit at a later time. Another thing I find nice about her is her dealings with people. She can find her way in gaining the trust or confidence of other people
which I personally deem impossible. And I tell her this all the time and I brag about her ability to deal with people and still remain as she is, her natural self.

Oh, so much has been said about her. I still have so much praises for my sister, It'll just come out later on as I go along with this journey here in the web.

Till next entry. Below is the lyrics and the music.
================================
We're J.J. Fad and we're here to rock
Rhymes like ours could never be stopped
See, there's three of us and I know we're fresh
Party rockers, non-stoppers, and our names are def
See, the 'J' is for just, the other for jammin'
The 'F' is for fresh, 'A' and 'D' def
Behind the turntables is DJ Train
Mixin' and scratchin' is the name of the game
Now here's a little somethin' 'bout nosy people
It's not real hard, it's plain and simple
Baby-D

Supersonic
Supersonic

Supersonic motivating rhymes are creating
And everybody knows that J.J. Fad is devastating
We know you like us girls so you better get stirl
'Cause we are the homechicks that are rockin' your world

Supersonic
Supersonic

Supersonic is a word when people start to listen
Especially bigger people, they pay close attention
You might not believe it, you might not even buy it
But when it comes to our lady (Beat Box), you might even try it

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now all you supersonic people try to bite our rhyme
You may think that you are def, but you're way (S-s-so) behind
You better listen good to what we have to say
'Cause when it comes to J.J. Fad you can get no play

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now he's the freshest DJ from coast to coast
My man can cut and scratch, but I don't mean to boast
He may be a little light, but that's okay
'Cause when he cuts to the beat it sounds this way
Hit it

Supersonic
Supersonic

Uh, uh, uh, yeah, it's finally my turn to rock the mic
Because my devastating beats I know you will like
You see my beat box is fresh, it'll blow your mind
And if you don't like my beats I'll go big in your behind
(Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-uh-uh-ha)

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now you party people know what Supersonic means
We didn't try to brag 'cause J.J. Fad is just too clean
Now baby, don't you know that our rhymes are so bionic
Don't listen too hard, don't be Supersonic

Supersonic
Supersonic

You see, the 'S' is for super, and the 'U' is for unique
The 'P' is for perfection and you know that we are freaks
The 'E' is for exotic, and the 'R' is for raps
So tell those nosy people just to stay the hell back

Supersonic
Them big everlasting ears
Supersonic
They can hear what I say faster than I can say it
Supersonic
They better chill (Rock box)
It's like, it's like
She's Supersonic
You ran out of words
Hit it, Baby-D

Never Ending Story - New Found Glory

When I was just a little kid, I heard of a story with this title. It was told in our language so I am not sure if some of you have heard of it on your own version. This is not the movie that most of us have seen but it was about the master and his servant.

I translated it from the way I understood it although I haven't heard of it for quite a long time already, perhaps 20 years. However when the song of the same title is played on my ipod, I can't help but remember the story.

The story started with...

Nung unang panahon... (I mean)... Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom and there lived the king and his servants. The king ordered a war against another kingdom.

One night, the master sargeant together with his soldiers and servants were resting in a camp.

The master went outside the tent and lighted a cigarrette. The servant followed him and asked, "Master, you can't sleep?" Then the master nodded his head.

"I cannot sleep too" said the servant. He continued, "Master, can you tell me a story?"

"Certainly" said the master. The master started the story....

Once upon a time, there was a Kingdom and there lived the king and his servants. The king ordered a war against another kingdom.
(Just read the story above and continue telling the Never Ending Story)

Okay, that's about it. When I first heard of it, I really thought it was silly to have never ending story and when the above story was told, I really thought it would never end. I think I just walked away from the person who was telling that story or I just covered my ears. I realized, it was non-sense listening to a story that I have already heard a thousand times.

I could bear watching or listening to a story the third, even the fourth time but not a dozen times more and more.

This is my version of the Never Ending Story. I have watched the movie about a flying big creature with kids on his back but I can no longer recall the beginning or ending of that story. Once I am done schooling, I will watch those movies again, and those TV series I failed to watch.

Thanks for reading.

Here is the lyrics of the song
NEVER ENDING STORY

Turn around, look at what you see, yeah
In her face, the mirror of your dreams, whoa
Make believe I'm everywhere, hidden in the lines
Written on the pages is the answer to our neverending story
Neverending story

Reach the stars, and fly a fantasy, yeah
Dream a dream, and what you see will be, yeah yeah yeah
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon the rainbow is the answer to our neverending story
Neverending story
Story
Neverending story

(GO!)
Show no fear, for she may fade away, yeah
In your hand, the birth of a new day, yeah yeah yeah
Lives that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds
And there upon the rainbow is the answer to our neverending story

[3x:]
Nevending story
Whoa whoa whoa whoa

Never Ending Story Theme Song - New Found Glory

Out Here on my Own - Irene Cara

This song reminds me of my high school days. It was a singing contest and a Senior student, named Jane, sang this song. I clearly remember how good her voice was and I always picture that scene, Jane in her uniform, singing this song on stage at our old high school.

Here is the lyrics:

===================================
Sometimes I wonder where I've been
Who I am? Do I fit in?
Make believin' is hard alone,
Out here on my own

We're always provin' who we are
Always reachin' for the risin' star
To guide me far and shine me home
Out here on my own

When I'm down and feelin' blue
I close my eyes so I can be with you
Oh, baby, be strong for me
Baby, belong to me
Help me through, Help me need you

Until the morning sun appears
Making light of all my fears
I dry the tears, I've never shown
Out here on my own

When I'm down and feelin' blue
I close my eyes so I can be with you
Oh, baby, be strong for me
Baby, belong to me
Help me through, help me need you

Sometimes I wonder where I've been
Who I am? Do I fit in?
I may not win, but I can't be thrown
Out here on my own
On my own
=======================================

Two of my high school friends celebrated their birthday this month and I manage to send them birthday greetings but failed to show up primarily because of my keeping up with the flood that devastated us weeks ago. It was few weeks ago but I still see the "remnants" of that "great flood". Those two friends I just mentioned, they likewise sufferred tremendously from the flood. Anyway, I am not going to delve deeper into that miseries of the past. I am over it now.

What can I tell you about this song? Well, I came from Sunday Mass this morning. I once again stepped on the floors of Manaoag church (I posted a picture above) with a friend. I know churches are all the same: they give the same Gospel reading, they deliver sermons, sing with the choir and respond appropriately and others. This is the reason why I seldom hear mass in Manaoag church despite of it becoming a tourist spot and "petition central" of the Philippines. This is because my friend and her family give a great deal going to Manaoag each time they have petitions. One reason I can see is that it is one of the biggest churches here in our Province and it is accessible. She has her own petition and so I went with her there. Please do not get the impression that I dislike it there. I am just sharing with you my thoughts on our Catholic churches here: they all deal with the Holy Trinity and we uphold that view.

My friends I talked to you about? They were my company in going to church since we went to a Catholic School together. We see each other there in the church every Sunday either as a choir member or just as a student, having our attendance checked by our teacher, the Religion teacher. Well, it was their way of enticing students to hear the mass, in order to form a habit. I had nothing against it if that is their means to achieve an end. The most important thing there is that somehow, they were able to instill into the heads of the student to re-live the good inside them as "instigated" by the Holy Spirit. Ahh, is this a sermon already?

Just sharing my view.

Anyway, I am about to end this entry. Let me end with this: "when I'm down and feeling blue, I close my eyes so I can be with you..." I close my eyes in prayers. I talk to God, mostly giving Him thanks for yet another night of rest, another day of good health, another day spent with loved ones. It's inspiring.

Just Once - James Ingram

We have decisions in life that has to be made at an instant. A moment where you don't even have a minute to think about it. We decide then regret later. We decide then rejoice with the outcome of our decisions. However, those moments we feel so defeated are the times when we made the final decision and worst, you go back to that time and think that you could have reached a better decision if given an ample time.

The reality is? We really don't have ample time to decide expecially when there are pressing issues and people surrounding us.

I have always regret my bad decisions and ask myself: "what if?"

One such decision is when I left for Manila. It was a spur of the moment decision and an assurance was also present that everything would be alright. But it wasn't.
It turned out, everything is not all right or not at all right. Well, at least not everything went wrong. There are a few things that I wish I could go back to.
Those things I can still revive, I slowly and painstakingly complete it. I rejoined my family, I rejoined my community, I gained back my faith, I am on the way of
finishing the piece which I think would complete me - my law school.

Deep within me, I know this is what I want although there are pressing issues at the moment, I think of quitting or yield a bit. But I have to move on and walk every inch. It is my only aspiration, it is my only desire, it is what I call my peak!

These are the times when I have ample time, yet, I feel like giving up. Sometimes I wish, seeing the result of my decision is as easy as ABC and as fast as lighting.
Life is such a mystery isn't it? The time that you ask for more time, you don't have it. When you are given enough time, somethings have started to tear out, not the way as planned, we wish for it to end immediately.

While I am writing this, I am reminded of the song which has an introduction of: "I did my best but I guess my best isn't good enough"

=======================
Here is the lyrics of the song Just Once by James Ingram

I did my best, but I guess my best wasn't good enough
'cause here we are back where we were before
seems nothing ever changes
we're back to being strangers
wondering if we ought to stay or head on out the door

Just once
can't we figure out what we keep doing wrong
why we never last for very long
what are we doing wrong.
just once
can't we find a way to finally make it right
to make the magic last for more than just one night
if we could just get to it
I know we could break through it.
Ohh ohhh

I gave my heart
but I think my heart may have been too much
'cause lord knows we're not getting anywhere
seems we're always blowing
whatever we've got going
and it seems at times with all we've got
we haven't got a prayer....

Just once
can't we figure out what we keep doing wrong
why the good times never last for long,
where are we going wrong
just once...
can't we find a way to finally make it right
to make the magic last for more than just one night
i know we could break through it
if we could just get to it

(Bridge)
Just once, I want to understand.....
why it always comes back to goodbye;
why can't we get ourselves in hand
and admit to one another
we're no good without each other
take the best and make it better
find a way to stay together

Just once, can't we find a way to finally make it right...Ohhhh
to make the magic last for more than just one night
i know we could break through it
if we could just get to it

Just Once
Ohhhh, we can get to it
Just Once

Isang Lahi - Regine Velasquez

Lyrics of the song Isang Lahi with translation
Kung ang tinig mo'y di naririnig (If your voice isn't heard)
Ano nga ba ang halaga ng buhay sa daigdig (What is the value of life in this world?)
Darating ba ang isa ngayon at magbabago ang panahon (Will another come today and season will change?)
Kung bawat pagdaing ay laging magulo (If every sigh is always in random)

Aanhin ko pa dito sa mundo (What use will it be in this world)
Ang mga matang nakikita'y di totoo (To have eyes that see untruth/false)
May ngiting luha ang likuran (There's a smile but tears are behind it)
At paglayang tanong ay kailan (And freedom with a question of when)
Bakit di natin isabog ang pagmamahal (Why don't we spread love?)

Sundan mo ng tanaw ang buhay (Follow life with gaze)
Mundo ay punan ng saya at gawing makulay (Fill the world with joy and make it colorful)
Iisa lang ang ating lahi (We only have one race)
Iisa lang ang ating lipi (We only have one generation)
Bakit di pagmamahal ang ialay mo (Why not offer love)
Pangunawang tunay ang siyang nais ko (Genuine understanding is what I like)
Ang pagdamay sa kapwa'y nandiyan sa palad mo (To sympathize with fellow is there in your palms)

Diba't ang gabi ay mayroong wakas (Isn't night has ending?)
Pagkatapos ng dilim ay may liwanag (After the darkness, there is light)
Araw ay agad na sisikat (The sun will soon rise)
Iilawan ang ating landas (It will light our path)
Ng magkaisa bawat nating pangarap (So each of our dreams/goals will become one)...

I translated the song Isang Lahi because I love its message, other than of course, I love singing it when we have our videoke sessions.

I am always tearful when I hear news about racism or see people who think they should be recognized as superior than others. It is also sad for me that people identify themselves as inferior in relation to others. I told you about an incident in Manila when we attended the Bar ops. Our "camp" was beside a school based in Manila. We were from the province and we seated so close to each other and this lady started blobbing and shouting at us saying we shouldn't stay beside their "camp". I asked myself why? Maybe it's because they are one of the institutions of Law School in our country but the heck! We stood on our ground and we stayed there. Their enlightened chairman approached us and apologized for the actuation of the lady. We were comforted and we set the tone down and dwell in that same place in harmony. We even offered each other food during the lunch break.

The grudge is still there, however, cool-head empowered us. We just placed in our head that indeed there are un-enlighted people whether rich or poor, educated or not.

Ahh, I am getting out of topic I think. My point is, we should not compare ourselves with others. We just have to cool down our heads, pull all wits together and talk thins over. We should not be overwhelmed with prejudice that this person does not understand us because he belongs to a particular race and that race is known to be so and so. Oh, which reminds me of my own prejudice that I though lawyers, or law students at least, has a badge of high distinction because they are well-educated. I was wrong because of what that lady did to us. Ahhh! I can't help but be lonely and sad of what's going on with people lately.

So I am sharing with you this song and I hope that time of realization that we are ONE RACE is nearing.

Good day everyone!

One Little Candle - Chicago

It was my 5th night of darkness. We still didn't have electricity after the big flood we experienced last Thursday evening (October 8).

Everynight, I light a candle in my room and need not worry about burning the house down because I stay awake most of the time. I cannot sleep well thinking of my friends, thinking about the people around me or baby-sitting the kid beside me.

That small little candle reminded me of simplicity. A single light in a dark room makes a big difference. My head went back to the year 1987, when my sister, me beloved sister, graduated from gradeschool. (Here in the Philippines, we spend six years in grade school, then we move forward to 4 years in high school).

This song was their graduation song and I practiced with them. By the way, my sister graduated at the top of her class in grade school. It was one of my proudest moments. I saw them on stage, they were singing this song as they, one-by-one lit each of their candles. Of course, the stage was dark and the light was all we could see. It was part of the drama on stage that I still couldn't understand nor appreciate back then. I do now that's why I am blogging about it. It was my sister's graduation night and whatever is special for my special for my sister, I instill it in my head. I love her so much.

This is the lyrics of One Little Candle and the music below. By the way, we also sing this in church but searching the net, i discovered it was also sung by Chicago so I have cited them here.

=====================================
It is better to light just one little candle,
Than to stumble in the dark!
Better far that you light just one little candle,
All you needs a tiny spark!

If wed all say a prayer that the world would be free,
The wonderful dawn of a new day well see!
And, if everyone lit just one little candle,
What a bright world this would be!

Lets all light one little candle,
Why stumble on in the dark?
When the day is dark an' dreary,
And your way is hard to find,
Dont let your heart be weary,
Just keep this thought in mind!

What a bright world
this would be!

Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran - Asin

It was getting dark and the water level was almost knee-high. It continues to rise and then we started to put our things to higher grounds.

We spent the night hauling and carrying anything and everything that we can save even before the water rises God-knows-up-to-what-level.

I stayed awake until I heard somebody, it was my dad I think, who woke up early and did nothing but observed the devastation outside.
The water was still waist-high inside the house, while it was beck-high outside. I can't help but stand in awe, in sadness, bearing in mind
the people who did not have shelter or means to provide food for their children. This is nature's response against our desire to civilization, or so I thought.

When we remain uncaring stewards our environment, this happens. After typhoon Ondoy in Manila, here is typhoon Pepeng in Northern Luzon. What is earth doing to us?
Mother earth is just responding to how we have treated her for the past centuries and we still continue to disregard her. Is there hope?

All I can think of right now is... when will we ever learn? This problem is getting so complicated and to simplify things, of which I am sure I can react, is to do a simple act of goodness to nature and to other people like the basics: keep your surroundings clean and offer help.

Lyrics and (my own) tranlsation of the song
Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran (Look/Observe/See the Environment)
by Asin (Salt)

Wala ka bang napapansin sa iyong mga kapaligiran? (Don't you notice anything in your environment?)
Kay dumi na ng hangin, pati na ang mga ilog natin. (The air is so polluted, so is our rivers)

Hindi na masama ang pag-unlad (Progress is not bad)
at malayu-layo na rin ang ating narating (and we have gone a long way)
Ngunit masdan mo ang tubig sa dagat (But look at the sea water)
Dati'y kulay asul ngayo'y naging itim (It used to be blue, now it's black)

Ang mga duming ating ikinalat sa hangin (The dirt we spread in the air)
Sa langit huwag na nating paabutin (Let's not allow it to reach heaven)
Upang kung tayo'y pumanaw man (So if or when we die)
sariwang hangin sa langit natin matitikman (We'll feel fresh air in heaven)

Mayron lang akong hinihiling (I just have one wish)
Sa aking pagpanaw sana ay tag-ulan (That it should be raining when I die)
Gitara ko ay aking dadalhin (I will bring my guitar)
Upang sa ulap na lang tayo magkantahan (So we will sing in the clouds)

Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang (The new born kids of today)
May hangin pa kayang matitikman? (Will they still taste fresh air?)
May mga puno pa kaya silang aakyatin (Will there be trees for them to climb)
May mga ilog pa kayang lalanguyan? (Will there be rivers for them to swim?)

Bakit di natin pagisipan (Why don't we ponder)
Ang nangyayari sa ating kapaligiran (The happenings in our environment?)
Hindi na masama ang pag-unlad (Progress is not bad)
Kung hindi nakakasira ng kalikasan (If it doesn't destroy nature)

Darating ang panahon (Time will come)
Mga ibong gala ay wala nang madadapuan (wild birds can no longer land)
Masdan mo ang mga punong dati ay kay tatag (Observe the trees that were firm/strong)
Ngayo'y namamatay dahil sa 'ting kalokohan (Now they're dying because of our foolishness)

Lahat ng bagay na narito sa lupa (All things on earth)
Biyayang galing sa Diyos (are blessings from God)
Kahit nong ika'y wala pa (Even before we were born)
Ingatan natin at 'wag nang sirain pa (We take care of it and should never destroy)
Pagkat pag kanyang binawi, tayo'y mawawala na (Because if He gets it back, we too will all be gone)

Kama Supra - Eraserheads

I was just trying to relax until this song played on my PC and you know what I remembered? My mom's comment when she heard this specific song. She said: "What kind of music are you playing?"

Probably she got irritated because in the house, they always hear me play this music, my favorite Eraserheads collection, even when I was still in College. I knew back then that my mom judged the band through some of the lyrics they used like that part of the lyrics which says: "hihiga tayo at kakan---- tah!" There was a suspense at the end of the syllable which people might fill in the last syllable and would get a really un-wholesome kind of song.

Nevertheless, I still love this band and I admire the way they "twisted" words, phrases or sentences. Too bad they have to disband and too good, I still have their music to enjoy up until now.

There you are, just sharing with you my memory with this particular Eraserheads song. Below is my translation.

================================
Translation of the song Kama Supra by Eraserheads

Sampung buwan na akong hindi natutulog (It's been 10 months that I haven't slept)
Kasi naman ang ingay ng aming kapitbahay (Because my neighbors are too noisy)
Pag gabi disco house at videoke (During evening, disco house and videoke)
Kaya sorry na lang kung wala ako sa sarili (So I am sorry if I am out of myself)
Mahal kita pero miss na miss ko na... (I love you but I truly miss...)

Ang aking kama at ang malupit kong unan (My bed and my cruel pillow)
Ba't di ka na lang sumama (Why don't you come along)
Hihiga tayo at kakanta (We will lie down and sing)

Masarap matulog lalu-lalo na pag umuulan (It's nice to sleep especially when it is raining)
Huwag kang matakot sa pungay ng aking mga mata (Don't be afraid of my twinkling eyes)
Napuyat lang nang magyaya si Medwin kagabi sa kanila (I was just sleepless when Medwin invited me to their place)
Kami'y nagkantahan ng "muntik nang maabot ang langit" (We sang "almost reached heaven")
Kaya naman ako'y nasasabik sa (That is why I am so excited for...)

Ang aking kama at ang malupit kong unan (My bed and my cruel pillow)
Ba't di ka na lang sumama (Why don't you come along)
Hihiga tayo at kakanta (We will lie down and sing)
