Price Tag - Jessie J

So exciting, SODEXO!

Christmas is nearing. In anticipation of the bonuses and gifts that I will be receiving, I also set aside funds for gift giving.  I have plenty of nephews, nieces and inaanaks (godchildren).

I recall the last time I received a gift check was also a Christmas gift that our company gave us. It was Sodexo, nothing else. It was fun because the amount was substantial, enough for Christmas grocery. I had a blast because it was also accepted as payment in one department store from where I live. That was one rewarding experience to be able to buy not just grocery, food but also apparel which I can use and each time remember that I received it through my good work.

I was really happy and I spent all of it. There is no expiration in the gift check because Sodexo GC’s have always been and forever will be valid, and that revalidation and replacement of Sodexo GC’s are free of charge once the validity date is reached.  However, I spent them all!

So this coming Christmas, it is a good idea to give as a gift Sodexo gift checks.  Please check out the link.

My wish for this Christmas is to receive the same amount of gift check I received last year and I will treat my family with a feast at out favorite store, Jollibee.

It is true that not everything is in the price tag. I never really felt that gift giving is onerous. Anyway, the spirit of Christmas is love and we don't count the cost.  We just enjoy it.

"Price Tag"
(feat. B.o.B)

[Jessie J]
Okay, Coconut man, Moon Head and Pea
You ready?

Seems like everybody's got a price,
I wonder how they sleep at night
When the sale comes first
And the truth comes second.
Just stop for a minute and smile

Why is everybody so serious?
Acting so damn mysterious?
Got your shades on your eyes
And your heels so high
That you can't even have a good time

[Pre-chorus:]
Everybody look to their left (yeah)
Everybody look to their right
Can you feel that (yeah)
We're paying with love tonight?

[Chorus:]
It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag
Ain't about the (uh) ch-ch-ching ch-ching
Ain't about the (yeah) bl-bling-bl-bling
Wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag (OK)

[Jessie J]
We need to take it back in time,
When music made us all unite!
And it wasn't low blows and video hoes,
Am I the only one getting tired?

Why is everybody so obsessed?
Money can't buy us happiness
Can we all slow down and enjoy right now?
Guarantee we'll be feeling alright

[Pre-chorus:]
Everybody look to their left (to their left)
Everybody look to their right (to their right)
Can you feel that (yeah)
We're paying with love tonight?

[Chorus:]
It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag
Ain't about the (uh) ch-ch-ching ch-ching
Ain't about the (yeah) bl-bling-bl-bling
Wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag

[B.o.B]
Yeah, yeah
Well, keep the price tag
And take the cash back
Just give me six strings and a half stack
And you can, can keep the cars
Leave me the garage
And all I, yes, all I need
Are keys and guitars
And guess what? In 30 seconds
I'm leaving to Mars
Yeah, we leaping across
These undefeatable odds
It's like this, man
You can't put a price on a life
We do this for the love
So we fight and sacrifice
Every night
So we ain't gon' stumble and fall
Never
Waiting to see or send a sign of defeat
Uh uh
So we gonna keep everyone
Moving their feet
So bring back the beat
And then everyone sing
It's not about the money

[Chorus 2x]

[Jessie J ‒ Outro]
Yeah, yeah
Oh-oh
Forget about the price tag, yeah

Auld Lang Syne - Robert Burns

Auld Lang Syne

Type: Poem
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o'kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary fit,
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

And there's a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire - Nat King Cole

It's Christmas! I wanna share with you my most favorite Christmas song.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that
He's bringing lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

I got the lyrics from this site: http://www.christmas-songs.org/songs/chestnuts_roasting_on_an_open_fire.html

I love the classy way it was sung but the most memorable interpretation that keeps ringing in my ears is that of Karen Carpenters. I love her singing.

When I was little, I remember asking my mom, "What is a chestnut?"

Having been living in the province, 200 kilometers from the Capital City, I do not know what is a chestnut. During that time, I knew this thing - the chestnut - could only be known in Manila, not in the provinces, never in my hometown. When I finally got the chance to celebrate one Christmas with relatives in Manila, I got to see chestnut, not taste it.

I know we cannot afford to buy that thing or probably it was not an important food during Christmas eve, at least here in the Philippines. I remember seeing the way they cook it in a very big pan, which was very oily with tiny pieces of charcoal, I think. I am not really sure what was that thing they placed in the pan together with the nut.

Eventually, when finances of the family was leaning positive, my mom, whom I always begged for chestnut, finally bought home a bag of the nut one evening. I remember how excited I was to see it, taste it, savor it. That was Christmas and that was the very reason why I love this song.

Merry Christmas everyone! Happy Holidays to all!

Merry Christmas to All

I have been away for a while but here is a song for everyone.

As my friend Hugh said, let us just all hope... that the world peace is attainable. We also hope and pray for peace in our country and that violence that the coming 2010 election brings will be halted is not minimized.

And, as my favorite movie says, "when someone does something for you, don't pay it back, PAY IT FORWARD" and we could see that this one world is the best place for all of us, without boundaries, without hatred, without division.

Here is my most favorite Christmas song:
All through the year
We've waited
Waited through spring and fall
To hear silver bells ringing
See winter time bringing
The happiest season of all

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jackfrost nippin' at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Will help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes of a glow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

(*) They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is going to spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

(**) And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times,
Many ways
Merry Christmas to you
